About The Walking Pig

The story behind The Walking Pig begins with a life-long partnership in love and food. Stacey & I were high school sweethearts in our little town of St. Joseph, LA. After college and a wedding, we moved to middle Tennessee where we lived and worked in the film/video production and food industries for almost 20 years before starting our own business - a food truck called Delta Bound. That kitchen-on-wheels grew into a tiny brick & mortar restaurant which quickly expanded through the love and support of our little Tennessee town. We had a passion for our work, but longed to be back in our ’even littler’ hometown. So after 6 very rewarding years in that space, we closed the Delta Bound restaurant, packed up everything we owned, and bid our Tennessee friends a tearful good-bye.

With the help of our Tensas Parish community, we opened The Walking Pig in a beautifully restored historic building in downtown St. Joseph in 2021. This space gave us a chance to explore new and exciting aspects of the restaurant business and a to offer all our culinary experience to the Louisiana Delta.

Tragically, in 2023, Stacey lost a short battle with cancer and it devastated us all. But it never crossed my mind to give up this business we had built together. After all, I’m the one who dragged him into it in the first place, and he supported my dream every step of the way. And so, with the help of many beloved friends and staff members, I’m still striving, still thriving and still looking for what the future will bring The Walking Pig. I feel his presence everyday, and work hard to convey that same passion we shared through my food and into the lives of our guests.

I hope to be seeing you real soon, and for many years to come!

Love,

Jes
